
01Know Your Rights: Disability
If you are on leave for a serious health condition and you do not qualify under the Family Medical Leave Act, you may be able to extend your eligibility under the Short-Term and Long-Term Disability provisions if you were disabled. In addition, if you're on disability, you are eligible to get hours credited to your Motion Picture Health Plan for up to six months.
02Know Your Rights: Report Meal Abuses on the Set
Many Local 600 members have been reporting meal penalty abuses on the set. The most commonly reported violation (at present) is the failure to pay meal penalties to crew members who have a pre-call.
03Know Your Rights: Rerate by the Rules
Local 600's Bylaws protects the integrity of our work classifications by prohibiting a member from illegally working out of classification.
04 Know Your Rights: Don't Waive Your Rest Period
Directors of Photography and Camera Operators fought for years to win an 11 hour rest period in the studio zone and in nearby locations and 10 hours on distant locations. It is one of the few remaining deterrents to long hours and fatigue.
05 Know Your Rights: Right-to-Work States
Some members mistakenly believe that there is no such thing as a union job in a so-called "right-to-work" state. That is not true. Many states allows producers to hire non-union workers even on union-organized productions.
